Our Winter Breakfast was another fantastic event at Millars Cafe, Lara. A spectacular red sunrise greeted guests who then enjoyed coffee and gourmet breakfast.
Liz Grant (Small Business, Smart Business) pictured below gave us her insights into the process of finding a Mentor in business and how that can assist in many ways during early business development and also throughout our business lives as we continue to grow and challenge our boundaries. See below for more information from Liz.
Don Robinson and Scott Millar shared their experiences of developing a mentor relationship and the rewards to both parties in this partnership. It was terrific to hear other members insights and questions and the committee are seeking to follow up this event with some targeted mentor sessions for members.
Small Business Smart Business is an initiative of the Geelong Chamber of Commerce and gives small businesses, as well as people intending to start a small business in the Geelong region, easy access to low cost services such as mentoring, as well as provide seminars and programs that give small business operators the skills they need to grow their business. Not only do we run seminars and programs, but we also promote relevant low cost services to small business available in the region.
Small Business Smart Business has mentors with expertise across all areas of business including: business planning, marketing, managing finances, managing staff, social media, search engine optimisation, cloud accounting, effective website design, and exporting / importing. We even have mentors to help you get ‘unstuck’ if you’re unsure about what you need.
Our Mentoring sessions go for one hour and the investment is only $90 per session plus GST.
A list of our Small Business Smart Business mentors is on our website at www.smallbusinesssmartbusiness.com.au/our-mentors/. As well as showing you who’s available, the list also shows their expertise – so you can choose the right mentor to solve your problem.
To book a mentor through Small Business Smart Business you can go to www.trybooking.com/UHTT and follow the prompts. Once we receive a booking, we contact your chosen mentor so they can contact you to arrange the best time to meet.
As well as the Small Business Smart Business mentors, the Victorian Government currently provides mentors to small business in the region through the Small Business Mentoring Service (www.sbms.org.au). You can book a mentoring session with a mentor of your choice, or you can book a FREE 45 minute mentoring session as part of one of the Greater Geelong Small Business Clinics at http://www.sbms.org.au/events and follow the links in the Greater Geelong Small Business Clinics.
